During Ramadan, food prices surge in Pakistan.

During Ramadan, fruit and vegetable prices rise in Pakistan.

In violation of price lists provided by the district government price control committee, the price of all vegetables, including potatoes, onions, tomatoes, ginger, garlic, green chilies, mint, lemon, and coriander, has jumped from Rs 50 to Rs 300 per kg, according to the survey. However, prices for several products, such as apples, guava, strawberries, bananas, oranges, and watermelon, have increased from Rs 200 to Rs 600, respectively.

According to figures issued by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the weekly inflation rate reached 48.35% while the inflation rate during the first week of Ramadan was 1.80 %. Up to 26 commodities saw price increases between March 20 and March 24, while 12 commodities saw price decreases and 13 goods saw constant pricing.

Foreign show's expert opinion on Ramzan

Ramzan Ali, who has been selling grilled quail at the market for about 40 years, exclaimed, "I am very glad to see people here." The past two years have been difficult.

Along with more unusual delicacies like kebabs made from the meat of bull genitalia and the perennially popular fried goat brain served to go with roast meats and vegetables, traditional dishes like pakoras and lentil soup were available.

Businessman Mohammad Ashrafuddin stated, "It felt so lovely to come here again.

“Without Chawkabazar’s iftar items, I feel like my Ramadan isn’t complete.”

Pakistan's Muslims are also rejoicing in the chance to once more breakfast in a group and away from a throng of Covids thanks to the government's weeks-earlier decision to ease prohibitions on public gatherings.
