The Pakistani Hajj pilgrims leave Madinah and travel to Makkah.

Hajj 2023: Saudi Arabia receives more than 580,000 pilgrims.

The official news agency SPA reported on Thursday that authorities have registered a total of 585,932 pilgrims who have traveled from all over the world to Saudi Arabia in advance of this year's Hajj.

The Hajj and Visit Committee released statistics on the number of pilgrims who arrived and left Medina on Wednesday, with 28,531 pilgrims arriving and 471,051 pilgrims departing for Mecca's holy sites on the same day.

114,830 pilgrims were among those who remained in Medina through Wednesday.

In the event that authorities make an official announcement, Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, is expected to begin on June 26. For the first time since COVID-19, approximately 2.6 million Muslims will participate in the Islamic ritual during this year's pilgrimage.

As restrictions on the number of pilgrims were lifted earlier this month, Saudi Arabia unveiled the largest-ever Hajj operation plan ahead of the pilgrimage season.

To assist the millions of Muslims who are anticipated to perform the Hajj, a record 14,000 staff members and over 8,000 volunteers will be stationed on the ground.

In addition, authorities have prepared more than 170 hospitals and health centers for Hajj pilgrims this year at Mecca and Medina's holy sites.
