From August 31 to September 17, 2023, the Asia Cup will be played in a hybrid format, with Pakistan hosting four one-day internationals and Sri Lanka hosting nine.

Pakistan hosted four Asia Cup matches; nine more are in Sri Lanka.

The 2023 Asia Cup dates and locations have finally been made public. The competition will take place in Pakistan and Sri Lanka between August 31 and September 17. However, a comprehensive schedule has not yet been made public.

After the BCCI announced that India would not travel to Pakistan, a hybrid model became necessary. The tournament was originally intended to be held entirely in Pakistan. ESPNcricinfo reported that four of the 13 matches under the hybrid model that has been approved by the Asian Cricket Council will be played in Pakistan, and the remaining nine will be played in Sri Lanka.

Pakistan will host the matches of a multi-nation tournament for the first time since 2008. Najam Sethi, who is in charge of the PCB management committee, stated, "I am thrilled that our hybrid version for the ACC Asia Cup 2023 has been accepted." Because the Indian cricket team was unable to travel to Pakistan, this means that the PCB will continue to host the event and stage matches in Pakistan with Sri Lanka serving as the neutral venue.

"We understand the BCCI's position, but our passionate fans would have loved to see the India cricket team play in Pakistan for the first time in 15 years. Like the PCB, the BCCI additionally requires government endorsement and leeway before crossing borders.

"I now look forward to continuing our discussions and deliberations with the ACC and Sri Lanka Cricket to iron out a few minor operational and logistical details so that we can begin our event planning and preparations," said the vice president.

India, Pakistan, and Nepal will compete in one group in 2023, while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan will compete in another group. The top two teams in each group will advance to the Super Four stage. The Super Four stage's top two competitors will then meet in the final. In preparation for the ODI World Cup in India in October and November, 50-over matches will be played.

Due to the strained political relations between India and Pakistan, a hybrid model was proposed as a solution. India refused to tour Pakistan. As the tournament's designated host, the PCB wanted Pakistan to host at least some of it. Bangladesh raised concerns regarding the extreme weather in September in the United Arab Emirates, which was considered a neutral site.

Despite the 20-over format of the 2022 event, Sri Lanka is the defending champion. In the most recent 50-over Asia Cup, India defeated Bangladesh in a thrilling final in the United Arab Emirates in 2018.
