Erdogan spoke during a ceremony that was live-streamed on television and took place at the parliament in Ankara. He said, "I, as president, swear upon my honor and integrity before the great Turkish nation and history to safeguard the existence and independence of the state."

 

"We will embrace all 85 million people in the country, regardless of their political views, origins, or religion," according to the statement.

 

A lavish celebration at the capital's presidential palace, attended by dozens of world leaders, followed the inauguration on Saturday. Due to tensions with the West, Turkey's longest-serving leader faces significant diplomatic challenges.

According to official results, Erdogan received 52.2% of the vote, while his rival Kemal Kilicdaroglu received 47.8%.
