2023 Asia Cup: ACC acknowledges PCB's cross-breed model
The Asian Cricket Chamber (ACC) has allegedly acknowledged Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) mixture model to have September's Asia Cup in Pakistan, ARY News wrote about Thursday citing sources.
Pakistan will host four to six Asia Cup matches, according to the hybrid model presented to the ACC by PCB Management Committee Chairman Najam Sethi. India will also play its matches at a neutral venue that also plays host to other matches.
Sources claim that Najam Sethi's hybrid model has been accepted by the Asian body in principle and without additional conditions.
Pakistan will host four to six matches under this hybrid model, while Sri Lanka or the United Arab Emirates will host other neutral venues.
The source stated, "However, all the details will be finalized in the ACC meeting that will be held shortly."
It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan's participation in the Men's ODI World Cup and the upcoming Asia Cup are in jeopardy as a result of the BCCI's refusal to tour Pakistan for the aforementioned tournament on political grounds.
The PCB insisted that Pakistan might not travel to India for the World Cup in October and November if they did not tour Pakistan for the Asia Cup. The BCCI did not change its position.
