Accord inked with Google for 45,000 grants this year: Federal IT Minister

KARACHI: According to Syed Aminul Haq, the federal minister of information technology and telecommunications, a deal has been made with Google for 45,000 scholarships, which will grow to 450,000 the following year.

 

According to a report from the state news agency, women will receive at least 40% of Google's scholarships.

 

This was something he said when he was giving a speech on Friday at the Startups for Industries and IT Exports conference at the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI).

 

The Clergyman said that the Google organization had given 15,000 grants barely a year ago, yet these were expanded after the interview.

 

The Federal Information Technology Minister stated that a $1.6 million gaming and animation building has been constructed at NED University to promote and expand this industry.

Syed Aminul Haque added that when he took over the IT Ministry, there were five incubation centers operating in the country's major cities. In the past three years, that number has increased to eight. He said that our attention is on advancing new companies, gaming, and liveliness in the country.

 

Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan, the former chairman of KATI, stated earlier that entrepreneurs and startups are putting in a lot of effort, but startups no longer require significant investments.

 

He stated that IT relies heavily on research and development. Startups are currently doing an excellent job, which is needed in the industry.

 

According to Zubair Chhaya, Deputy Patron of KATI, when Federal Minister Aminul Haq took office, IT exports were worth $1 billion, but at the end of the previous fiscal year, exports were worth $2.6 billion.

 

He stated that Pakistan's increased IT exports, which totaled $149 billion in the previous year, are encouraging.

 

In his speech, Mahin Salman stated that professional educational institutions are working on developing industry-required curricula. Prior individuals used to get an enormous number of degrees yet they didn't land positions. Presently endeavors are being made to give proficient preparation as per the necessities of the current time in counsel with the business.

 

She went on to say that the startups that are still around today were just projects that started last year and have succeeded in launching today.

 

Speaking at the event, Nighat Awan, Senior Vice President of KATI, demanded that the IT sector's machinery and products be exempt from duty so that it can grow even more in the country.
