Iran's Raisi is scheduled to visit China, according to official media
TEHRAN: According to official media, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi will travel to China in the coming days for a three-day visit to foster economic ties. In response to a formal invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping, Raisi will depart for Beijing on Monday night, according to Iran's official news agency IRNA.
A conference for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization brought the two presidents together for the first time last September in Uzbekistan when the Iranian president advocated for deeper ties. According to IRNA, Raisi is scheduled to meet with Xi in private during his future trip, and delegations from both nations will sign "cooperation documents." Raisi will also participate in discussions with Chinese businesses and Iranians who reside in the nation, the agency stated.
Economic solid relations exist between Iran and China, particularly in the areas of energy, transit, agriculture, trade, and investment. A 25-year "strategic cooperation contract" between the two nations was signed in 2021, and it is stated to have "political, strategic, and economic" elements. According to IRNA's analysis of 10-month statistics from the Iranian customs administration, China is Iran's top trading partner.
Iran exported $12.6 billion worth of commodities to Beijing while importing $12.7 billion worth of goods from China.
