 28 dead and 150 injured after the Peshawar mosque explosion.



Islamabad: According to Dawn, the number of people killed in the suicide bombing that occurred in a mosque on Monday in Peshawar, Pakistan's Police Lines neighborhood, has increased to 28.

 

Peshawar Commissioner Riaz Mehsood acknowledged the fatalities and added that there was a rescue operation taking place inside the mosque. The top official was quoted by Dawn as stating, "An emergency has been enforced at hospitals around the city and injured victims are being provided the greatest medical services." According to reports, those hurt in the explosion is in critical condition. During afternoon prayers, a bomb went off at the Peshawar mosque in the Police Lines neighborhood.

 

According to local media accounts, the security personnel claimed that the suicide bomber was present in the front row during the prayers when he detonated himself. The Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar received the injured patients for medical attention. At least 120 people were in the mosque at the time of the explosion, according to one eyewitness. He claimed that many police officers were among the injured.

 

Imran Khan, a former prime minister of Pakistan, denounced the terrorist suicide assault in a Peshawar mosque. He demanded that police units be outfitted and that intelligence be improved.

 

"strongly condemn the terrorist suicide attack that took place during prayers in a Peshawar mosque guarded by police. The families of the victims have my sympathies and sorrow. To tackle the growing threat of terrorism, it is essential that we strengthen our information collection and adequately equip our police forces "In a tweet, Khan stated.

 

Due to an increase in terrorist attacks in areas bordering Afghanistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif demanded that the national action plan be implemented in its entirety. Shehbaz denounced the incident while on a visit to the northern city of Peshawar, the scene of a devastating attack in which over 150 people were injured and close to five dozen people were killed.

 

When Sharif, Army Chief Gen. Asim Munir, and other officials visited Lady Reading Hospital, they called for a national consensus to end the threat of terrorism in the nation and reiterated that such heinous terrorist attacks could not weaken the country. For the horrible incident, the prime minister promised to take the harshest possible measures against extremists and their enablers.
