In punjab two Pakistani intelligence agents were shot and killed.

In the Punjab province, two Pakistani intelligence agents were shot and killed.

The assassinated policemen were well-known for their work locating Taliban members in Pakistan and putting an end to intricate armed attacks. Outside a roadside diner in the country's east, a gunman shot and killed two members of Pakistan's intelligence service, according to police and security authorities.

In the Khanewal area of the Punjab province, senior police officer Murtaza Bhatti claimed the incident on Tuesday occurred as the two cops were parking their car. The cops were known for apprehending members of the Pakistani Taliban and other armed groups, but no one has claimed responsibility for their deaths. They were also renowned for their skill in examining and resolving complex crimes, such as Pakistani gun and bomb attacks.

According to officials, one of the killed policemen was the director of the province counterterrorism unit, which was crucial in the capture of Pakistani Taliban members known as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. The armed organisation unilaterally ended a truce with the Pakistani government in November, and as a result, attacks on security forces have increased in recent months.

The Afghan Taliban, who took control of the neighbouring country in 2021 when NATO and American soldiers withdrew after 20 years of fighting, are separate from but aligned with the Pakistani Taliban. A recent "wave of terrorist strikes" in Pakistan, according to Pakistan's defence minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, were carried out by Pakistani Taliban who was sheltering in Afghanistan. He pleaded with the Taliban leaders in Afghanistan to forbid such fighters from utilising Afghan soil for attacks in Pakistan.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the head of the Afghan Taliban, stated on Tuesday that Afghanistan sought positive ties with all of its neighbours, including Pakistan. However, he also urged Islamabad to avoid making statements that would incite unrest.

He declared, "The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan appreciates peace and stability in its own nation, it seeks peace and stability for the entire region, and it continues to work in this way. He claimed that the "Islamic Emirate is doing all in its power to prevent the use of Afghanistan's land against Pakistan or any other

nation."
