ALIBABA INTENDS TO INVEST $1 BILLION IN TURKEY

Alibaba intends to build a logistics hub at the Istanbul Airport and an information centre nearby Ankara

According to President Michael Evans, the Alibaba group will continue to invest more than $1 billion in Turkey for a logistics hub at the airport in Istanbul and a knowledge centre nearby. "A critical investment plan is in place for Istanbul Airport. We can assess e-export plans to Europe, the Middle East, and the Far East from here, Evans said in an interview with the Sabah newspaper that was published on Sunday.

According to Evans, Alibaba is focusing on Turkey as a growth market due to the country's strong manufacturing capacity, which would slow down e-commerce and integrate Turkey into the company's distribution network in Europe and the Middle East. Expanding trade and cloud-based technologies are predicted to boost the company's sales.

Former Goldman Sachs Group executive Evans advised Turkey to improve its e-alternate rules to address "some weaknesses" and have truthful opposition, Sabah said without going into further detail. Chinese language e-exchange giant wants to build Turkey's largest records centre in Temelli, close to the capital of Ankara, in addition to a logistical hub at Istanbul's airport, the largest in the United States, Sabah reported Evans as saying.

The largest startup in Turkey ultimately turned out to be Trendyol, an e-alternative platform funded by Alibaba. When asked if Alibaba intended to use Trendyol to enter the Turkish stock market, Evans responded, "I think it's much exquisite to be a public employer. However, Trendyol control must be used to make a decision on this. We can help them if they decide they want to go public. As Trendyol develops, I predict that this might become apparent.
