Military drones are tested by Iran in a battle near the Strait of Hormuz.

In a mock battle in the Strait of Hormuz, Iran tests new attack drones.

The Ababil-5 was utilised in the exercise for the first time, and state media announced that after travelling 400 kilometres, a bomb was successfully detonated on a target. With rumours that Russia is utilising the weaponry supplied by Tehran in its invasion of Ukraine, these armaments have caused concern with the US and its allies. As part of its ongoing annual exercise, Iran's military tested brand-new attack drones on Saturday along the Gulf of Oman coast and close to the vital Strait of Hormuz, according to state media.

In the meantime, the more than three months-long anti-government rallies persisted. Social media videos depicted demonstrations in the primary market of Tehran as well as other cities and towns, including the Kurdish region. As a result of the violently suppressed protests, a portion of Tehran's market was forced to close.

According to state television, the Ababil-5 attack drone was utilised in war drills for the first time and made a successful bomb strike after travelling 400 kilometres (250 miles). Over the previous ten years, Iran has tested numerous additional military drones.

Iran confirmed providing drones to Russia in November and noted that the transfer occurred before Moscow's conflict in Ukraine. Iran claims it is dedicated to putting an end to the fighting. A fifth of all oil sold at sea passes through the Strait of Hormuz, located near the Persian Gulf's mouth and is vital to the world's energy sources.

The "Zolfaghar-1401" war exercises included fighter aircraft, helicopters, military transport aircraft, submarines, commandos, and airborne soldiers. The Iranian military will also launch air defence systems and missiles. Such exercises are regularly held in Iran to hone its defence capabilities and test new weaponry.
