ISLAMABAD: According to the National Institute of Health Islamabad and the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), Pakistan is completely prepared to handle the anticipated new wave of Covid variation,  News reported on Sunday.

A meeting of the National Command and Operation Center was presided over by Lt Gen Inam Haider, Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

 

The NDMA chairman was briefed by representatives of the NIH Islamabad and the NCOC on the nation's preparations to face the threat of any future Covid pandemic waves. The NDMA was briefed by NCOC officials who stated that all intensive care units are operational in hospitals across the nation, despite intensified surveillance at airports and other entrance points. They said that Covid-19 is being sequenced in labs throughout all of the provinces and in the federal capital. According to their forecast, the nation is not at risk from the emergence of a new wave of any coronavirus variety, including the Covid-19 BF.7 variant.

 

A guarantee that 90% of the populace had received vaccinations was delivered to the NDMA chairman.

 

Not detected: Highly transmissible sub-variant

 The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) previously denied the discovery of Omicron sub-variant BF.7 in Pakistan and asserted that no threat from new COVID-19 variants exists.

Situation

 In the meantime, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) revealed that 14 new coronavirus cases have been detected in the last day across the nation.

 18 patients had a case positivity ratio of 0.53%, and they were all in critical condition.

In the past 24 hours, 3,394 tests were carried out, but no deaths related to COVID-19 were reported. There were roughly 151 tests performed in Islamabad, 824 tests in Lahore, and 55 tests in Multan. One case with a 0.66% case positivity ratio was reported from Islamabad, one case with a 1.82% case positivity ratio was documented in Multan, and as many as four confirmed cases with a 0.49% case positivity ratio were reported from Lahore.

 

Minister praises medical professionals

 Abdul Qadir Patel, the Minister for National Health Services, praised the administration, medical professionals, vaccination teams, and other participants for their efforts in Pakistan despite several obstacles. In order to further enhance protection against COVID-19 transmission, he encouraged all provinces and regions to administer booster dosages.

 

The minister emphasized the need for measures, particularly in crowded areas, and recommended wearing masks and avoiding social contact. He also emphasized how important it is to adhere completely to the rules set forth for market management.
